Santa Fe Style

Here's one of my "locals" - the old Santa Fe station / depot in downtown San Diego - happily still used for it's intended purpose, served by Amtrak, the local tram system (MTS) and the commuter rail service to Oceanside, "Coaster"

The station architecture looks almost surreal, amongst the skyscrapers, John - it's very interesting to see these views from half-way across the world! :D

It is rather surreal, Tim - especially when one sees older photos of the station (built in the 1910s), when it was the largest building around downtown..

I'm just rather glad it still survives, and serves it's intended purpose still.

Reminds me of some of the surviving railway architecture we saw when last on Prince Edward Island - a chap could get seriously into this kind of thing.....Nurse! ;)

I do have quite a soft spot for the Mission style. A much more modellable size than L.A. Union Station and good to see it still in use.
