The muck-up with couplings now having been resolved, the two stragglers are now await a door return spring on each side.
The unfitted beastie in the last post has had a trip to paint shop and has a nice crappy underframe paintjob; the bodywork has a bit of distressing to finish mind.
As for lettering, the PC gets assembled this weekend hopefully and then it is a Corel-Draw session or three drawing up transfers :?

Oh no not some new images...

Image

Archer Details in action here with a scratchbuilt door spring assembly.

Image

Here is the full view of this beastie - more paint and lettering beckons

Image

Grandt Line provide the detail here. A wee bit of dressing needed as well.

Image

This image shows the Craig Welsh etches off wonderfully.
The tie bars, brake lever and lever guide all look fabbo to my eyes - the best around maybe?

An end view

The "... Beastie..." awaits  :o

Judging by the general scratching about, noodling and furtlement of four-wheeled stock on Iain's workbench at the club last night, I would anticipate there will be plenty to look at in the near future...............

Cheers,

Well finally some progress.
That is, of course, after a rather unplanned diversion health-wise....

Paint!! But the decals on the top one are going to be redone :axe:
They are half a midges widger too beeg! Me? Obsessive?

The above shows the early stages of finishing the insides of these beasties.
More will follow soon and it will NOT take 12 months ;)

Morning all, progress at last!! :D
These b#gg#rs have taken far too bl**dy long so to post these images is a wee triumph!!

For your entertainment this morning:

Image

Image

Image

The above medfits have been so long in the making and finishing its frankly embarrassing in some ways. Anyhow the finish line beckons so the correct lettering has begun

All of the decals I have drawn myself in Adobe Illustrator and then had printed on an ALPS printer. I still cannot decide which software I should stay with for this task. CorelDraw I have used for years, whilst Illustrator may be useful learning professionally so, why not take advantage there of .... :?:

More to come as I fight the good fight with decals and other naughtiness.....................

AT LAST!!

Image

Image

Image

The above three show the ALPS printed decals off I think.
The Electrification Warning sign is from the Railtec range - http://www.railtec-models.com/

Image

Both of these two beasties are the auld Parkside Dundas kit, a kit which is unavailabe at this time I think and which may well be getting updated? I do hope so, because a lot of them ended up in the Engineers fleets.

It has been a long haul but finally, this project is nearing completion. Two down and four to go.............

Lovely stuff. You seem to have the knack for really bringing these things to life. It would be great if Parkside do update the kit, im sure we could all do with a few more of them :D

Thanks Stuart ;)
One tries ones best, I just follow my instincts

As for Parkside? I REALLY want them to produce a newer kit, Mostyn could use a few more as well as myself...........
Mind, they maybe trying to develop a kit to do unfitted/fitted/retro-fitted?
We can but muse and cogitate

I cant see Parkside bothering with a retool TBH, not with the ready availability of Mainline, Dapol and Bachmann RTR ones. Is the Ratio kit still available, cant say I've seen one lately?

The interior woodwork colour in that overhead shot is particularly nice 8-)

The finished articles!!
After so much time wasted with darkness, illness and general malaise, getting these in service during the summer was a great release 8-)

Some close ups...

I am pleased with effect and finish here. Crud and muck lodged in places and the rusty end plate I think works?

Image

This, I hope, captures a typical engineering stock lash job with regards to identification.

Image

The venerable end of and auld, unfitted LMS medfit. Skanky and cruddy with some last vestiges of use.
The Electrification Warning notice decal has been mounted, as an experiment, on some plasticard to attempt to give some relief.
Pedantic? Wibble!!

I am still working on one last BR steel bodied Medfit and re-lettering a final LMS Medfit at the moment; then this project will be finished - finally!

Don't forget to paint, or otherwise tone down, the buffer shanks.

Only Dowtys and certain Oleos have shiny shanks, everything else should be unpainted iron or steel castings (I.e. Rusty)

Sorry but it's one of my pet hates.

Cheers
