Medfits - various ones...

Postby iak » Thu Aug 19, 2010 11:30 am

Here is one of the blighters.

Image

Image

As you can see its had some work - this is the Parkside kit.
The axlebox covers are from Ambis.
The image I'm working from shows the mods to the spring arm mounting and it just had to be done.
Another one to get finished - amongst a half dozen others... :scratch

The relics progress ever onwards :o
Its true, honest!
Brakes and things are now in situ so its time for the brass naughtiness to begin.
Some piccies will appear soon - Xmas shopping permitting

What? Progress?

Image
Here are three of the beasties - two LMS fitted ones and a lone BR steel sided one.

Image
The buffers are LMS ones and mighty fine too
And I do think adding the bits to the solebars on thes three of these works big time
Masokits screw coupling and an Exactoscale hook.

Image
This one is really not far off done - just those pesky safety loops!
The brake lever and such is frae the Mainly Trains etch.
The axlebox covers are Ambis ones

Image
This one has one thing I will deal with - that note-board on the side looks pants as a moulding so off with it.
This is were piccies cab aid your modelling I think. You can start seeing things frae a new perspective.

Further fettling beckons; I will be examining the pictures I'm working from for other naughtiness ;)

Hi Iain, you seem to have the same items of stock on the bench as I have... only, you have time to work on them!
Buffers look nice though, who's are they again? ;)

Hi Iain,

Having looked at those images, I'm not so sure that re-greening work on Mostyn before ExpoEM is such a priority :)

Cheers,

Richard

The ribs on the solebar are 10thou I think.
And I have one more that has spring return arms to be scratchbuilt next week.
And then its the paintshop - wibble!! :?

Hi Stuart,

It is a Parkside Dundas kit but, as you say, it is not in their current catalogue. This may suggest that the tooling is being re-done in order that the kit can be re-launched in an improved form.

Yet more of these are nearing the final furlong.
The latest muck-up was failing to note the w-irons type and configuration properly - DOH!
This is what happens when you misplace the checklist :face:
Anyhow they are moving along - piccies soon.

I forgot about the piccies... :face:
Well the brake levers guides have all been done using the Craig Welsh etches - VERY nice http://www.scalefour.org/eshop/eshop.html
Scroll down the page and vóila!
Brake levers are pending frae the same etch and then some others bits too.

Hi Iain,

Great stuff :D :D :D

Your fellow modellers were starting to wonder where all the scratching, noodling and general furtlement of plastic kits in the far corner of the club was leading................

Cheers,

Richard

Just as I get to sort stuff out!!
AAAArrrggg!! Photobucket starts ruining images :axe:

ANY HOW - at last some images of what I have been upto

The first 4 are those which are in the finishing shop; I noticed I had not posted anything about them

P1000862.JPG

P1000857.JPG

P1000856.JPG

P1000858.JPG

Here are the next 3 in the production line - brakes levers and guides on, as well as the tie bar where applicable.
One can also see the brackets on the solebars.

P1000863.JPG

P1000861.JPG

P1000864.JPG

As one can see, each one is different in some way.
Be it brakes, w-irons, springing, buffers or axlebox...
And there is more to do - eventually!

Hi Iain,

You will, by now, have noticed that tea-guzzling Gavin has struck a rich vein of form with the 21T/24T mineral air-brushing. This may be pure chance so let's have those Medfits finished p.d.q. :D :D :D

Cheers,

Richard

Paintshop time..
Young Mr Welsh etches again do the job with the brake levers etc..

And the other two are nearly done as well; the planked floors went in last night so its just some lamp iron as they are fitted jobbies.
